Overview of Our Arabic Curriculum

Our programme is built on a clear, structured approach to help students deeply understand the Qur'an—not just to recite, but to truly connect with its language and meaning. The course is divided into three progressive phases, each laying a strong foundation for the next.

Phase 1: Learning to Read Arabic

Objective:

  • To develop fluency in reading Arabic script confidently and accurately.

Important Note:

  • While students will learn how to read the Qur’an fluently, our core aim is comprehension—not memorisation or Tajwīd. We focus on building a meaningful relationship with the Qur’an through understanding its message.

Skills Covered:

  • Arabic alphabet and proper pronunciation
  • Basic reading fluency
  • Recognition of common Qur’anic words

Phase 2: Grammar, Sarf (Morphology), and Vocabulary

Objective:

  • To equip students with the tools to understand Arabic sentence structure and word formation.

Curriculum Sources:

  • Madinah Books Series – for mastering Arabic grammar (Nahw)
  • Al-Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk – for vocabulary expansion and practical usage
  • Sarf (Morphology) – for recognising word patterns and verb forms

Skills Covered:

  • Sentence construction and grammar rules
  • Verb forms and noun patterns
  • Core Qur’anic vocabulary and everyday language
  • Reading and understanding simple texts

Phase 3: Qur’anic Analysis and Understanding

Objective:

  • To engage directly with the Qur’anic text through in-depth grammatical analysis (iʿrāb), vocabulary application, and interpretation.

Skills Covered:

  • Performing iʿrāb on selected verses
  • Applying vocabulary and morphology knowledge in context
  • Exploring Balāghah (rhetoric) to appreciate the Qur’an’s eloquence
  • Introduction to Tafsīr to enhance comprehension and reflection

By the end of this phase, the student will be able to understand verses of the Qur’an directly—without translation—and analyse the linguistic beauty of the Qur’an using the tools she’s gained.

I’ve spent years learning Arabic as a second language, trying out countless courses and programs—some helpful, others not so much. Now, I want to pass this skill directly to my daughter. It’s going to take time, but if you’re consistent and committed from the start, I can guarantee that in two years, you’ll be able to read and understand Arabic text with ease.
